Expert meeting in Split: defining the basis for coastal adaptation planning in the Mediterranean

Plan Bleu was in Split, on 13 and 14 July, to participate in the meeting of experts responsible for the preparation of Coastal Plans for the Bay of Kotor and the Tangiers-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Region, organised by PAP/RAC.

Within the framework of the GEF MedProgramme Child-Project 2.1 and SCCF projects, PAP/RAC gathered on 13-14 July the experts responsible for the preparation of the Coastal Plans for the Bay of Boka Kotorska (Montenegro) and for the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Region (Morocco).

The team leaders discussed the progress of the development of the plans with the government representatives of Montenegro and Morocco, as well as with their PAP/RAC and Plan Bleu/RAC partners.

Based on several requests for assistance in the preparation of Coastal Adaptation Plans, PAP/RAC decided to develop a methodological guide for the preparation of Coastal Plans according to the ICZM Protocol (integrated coastal zone management) for the Mediterranean, in order to provide support to all other coastal regions and cities willing to start preparing such plans.
