It is increasingly recognized that nature can be one of the viable solutions to the challenge of climate change, using and deploying the functioning of ecosystems. The Mediterranean has been identified by the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) as one of the world’s most vulnerable regions in terms of global warming. At the same time, the Mediterranean is a global biodiversity hotspot endowed with a great wealth of natural resources and ecosystems. The critical role of biodiversity, ecosystems and natural infrastructure in mitigating climate change and reducing its impacts is increasingly being recognized.

Following the Workshop « Implementation of Nature Based Solutions to tackle climate change: Focus on the Mediterranean region » , organized in Marseille, France, on 22-24 January 2019 with its partners : IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation, UICN French Committee, Conservatoire du Littoral, Tour du Valat, MedWET and Wetlands International, Plan Bleu is just released a video also a Policy Paper and a summary for decision makers.
