In collaboration with Labex-OT Med and Aix-Marseille University, Plan Bleu co-organized from 17 to 19 July 2017 in Marseille, France, the 3rd thematic workshop of MedECC initiative for the year 2017 on the following topic : “ecosystems and ecosystem services“. Previously, a workshop was held in Rabat in May 2017 on “Water, Food and Energy” and another one in Palermo in June 2017 on “Development, Health and Human Security”.
To date, MedECC is a group of 370 scientists from 30 countries. Its objective is to provide a synthesis of the impacts of the environmental changes (including climate change) in the Mediterranean region.
The objectives of the workshop were to work on the main outlines of the chapter dedicated to ecosystems and the services they provide, to work on the outlines of the first assessment report (to be published in 2019) and to identify the authors of the chapters (leaders and contributors).
30 participants, scientists and researchers from universities or national research institutes from Morocco, Algeria, Lebanon, Tunisia, France, Italy, Greece, Portugal, Spain, Cyprus and Montenegro, attended this worksop.
