State of play of the legal framework of PPPs for the management of protected areas in the South and East of the Mediterranean: Public Private Partnerships for the management of protected areas

This report is part of a joint initiative of the French Development Agency (AFD) and Plan Bleu in the field of natural resource management and ecological services (biodiversity), focusing more particularly on the implementation of public-private partnerships in the field of protected areas.
The objective of this report is to draw up a first inventory of national legislative and regulatory arrangements relating to Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) that may be applicable to Protected Areas (PAs), to identify successful practices in the use of PPPs for the management of a PA, and to produce a first analysis on their development potential in the countries of the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean.
