Plan Bleu 2025 Activity Report

2025 marked a major turning point for Plan Bleu !

Between l’UNOC3 in Nice, the adoption of the new Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development (MSSD 2026-2035) at COP24 in Cairo, and the publication of the MED2050 foresight report, Plan Bleu Association has strengthened its role as a leading think & do tank for the Mediterranean

The year 2025 was highlighted by strong scientific and operational output: over 15 publications were released, including major reports on foresight, sustainable finance, desalination, and the state of health of the basin. Plan Bleu also hosted more than 30 events, thereby strengthening regional dialogue and cooperation with multiple Mediterranean stakeholders.

Climate change is now a core priority, with a decisive contribution to the revision of the MSSD and the launch of the Second MedECC Assessment Report (MAR2). At the same time, operational projects on ecosystem restoration—notably seagrass meadows and wetlands—as well as participatory adaptation to climate change (via the Climagine method, for instance), have made concrete progress.

Plan Bleu is more ready than ever to support the implementation of regional commitments for a resilient and sustainable Mediterranean
