Plan Bleu took part in the launch of the Interreg Euro-MED project, NaTour4CChange.
This project, which began on January 1, 2024, and will continue until June 30, 2026, aims to strengthen sustainable tourism in the Mediterranean basin. For this purpose, the project focuses on adaptation to climate change and disaster risk prevention, resilience, taking into account ecosystem-based approaches. Bringing together 10 partners and 18 associate partners, NaTour4CChange has set itself the mission of transforming the landscape of Mediterranean tourism. The goal is to test and promote innovative solutions to improve the resilience of coastal destinations to current and future environmental challenges.
Plan Bleu leads Work Package 1, related to the development of methodologies. This crucial work aims to establish climate change action plans tailored to the specific needs of the regions and targeted destinations.
NaTour4CChange aims to generate tangible outcomes including:
- 11 strategies and action plans specific to the tourism sector in the Mediterranean
- 6 reports on tested nature-based solutions,
- A capitalization report that will offer a global perspective on best practices for integrating climate change resilience into the tourism sector.
With a total budget of 2,997,944.13 EUR, of which 365,005.00 EUR is allocated to Plan Bleu, the project is financially supported by theInterreg Euro-MED Program.. This initiative represents a significant step forward in achieving a balance between tourism development and ecosystem conservation, ensuring a prosperous and sustainable future for the Mediterranean region.
