In the framework of the MED 2050 programme, a workshop entitled “Youth Commission for the Future of the Mediterranean” took place virtually on 2 March 2022.
This workshop, which aimed to collect contrasted visions of young people on the Mediterranean in 2050, gathered young people between the ages of 17 and 27 and an audience of young and not so young people, from twenty-two countries around the Mediterranean.
For 4 hours, the participants shared their visions of the Mediterranean, based on three fictions presented in the form of Pechas Kuchas, which represent imaginary projections of the future of the Mediterranean by 2050.
This workshop allowed the participants to express their perceptions of potential futures on the transformations of lifestyles and the role of public actors, emphasizing what seemed to them desirable or, on the contrary, unacceptable for the future of the Mediterranean by 2050.
The comments and visions collected will contribute to the future work on the scenarios of the MED 2050 programme, and will help to develop transition paths towards desirable futures for the Mediterranean by 2050.
