Regional Workshop of the socio-economic assessment and participatory governance final results restitution of the pilot forest ecosystems After 4 years implementing the project « Optimizing the production of goods and services by Mediterranean forests in a context of global changes  », funded by the French Facility for Global Environment (FFEM), Plan Bleu, in cooperation with FAO, organized the component 2 and 3 final results restitution workshop, which took place in Nice at the Park Inn by Radisson Hotel, from the 27th to the 29th of October 2015.

The project ownership is jointly entrusted to Plan Bleu and FAO (Secretariat of Silva Mediterranea). Plan Bleu is in charge of the assessment of the socio-economic values of goods and services provided by Mediterranean forest ecosystems (project’s second component) and the implementation of participatory governance approaches for the multifunctional management of Mediterranean woodland areas (third component). Both of these components are implemented in the following pilot sites: Chrea National park in Algeria,  Jabal Moussa Biosphere reserve in Lebanon, Maâmora forest  in Morocco, the Barbara watershed in Tunisia, and Düzlerçami forest in Türkiye.

This final workshop aimed at restituting, sharing and discussing the final results of the different studies conducted in these pilot sites. This event gathered the partner countries’ focal points, the thematic experts, the national and regional experts, and the FAO forestry experts involved in these activities. It was also an opportunity for sharing and exchanging experiences and final results of each studied site, as well as pursuing reflections in terms of sustainable management of wooded ecosystems’ goods and services.
