Make the Mediterranean a cooperation area for sustainable development
The Mediterranean Forest Week (MFW) is one of the main forums for exchanging on the Mediterranean forest, gathering a wide range of protagonists: forest administrations, scientific and academic world, private sector, funders, civil society and NGO’s.
This event, which takes place every two years during one week in a partner country, allows many exchanges around a selected topic.
The Mediterranean Forest Week has been conceived as a shared platform for the regional cooperation on Mediterranean forests, aiming to improve the dialogue between research community, policy makers, and concerned stakeholders; as well as to inform the international community and the whole society about the importance of Mediterranean forest and the challenges they have to face.
Plan Bleu is part of the steering committee of these forest weeks and plays an active role with its regional partnerships before, during and after the organization of those events.
The Sixth Mediterranean Forest Weektook place in Lebanon on 1-5 April 2019. It brought together a diverse range of participants to consider how Mediterranean forests can contribute to countries’ goals under the Paris Agreement. It promoted the use of forest-based solutions to assist Mediterranean countries to implement their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement.
