The Mediterranean Biodiversity Protection Community (MBPC) and its Working Group 2 on Sustainable Use of Natural Resources will organise a webinar on success stories on sustainable small-scale fisheries (SSF) in the Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) next 17th March 2021 at 11:00 AM (CET).
This will be the first of a series of WG2 webinars on best practices, aiming at sustainably using the natural resources in the Mediterranean region. The event will be coordinated by the CPMR Intermediterranean Commission.
The aim of this webinar is to share best practices on SSF governance from two Mediterranean-based projects:
- “Transforming Mediterranean Small-Scale Fisheries”, led by WWF Mediterranean Marine Initiatives, aims to establish a “co-management for SSF” system in 24 pilot sites from 10 Mediterranean countries.
- “FishMPABlue2”, led by Federparchi-Europarc Italy, tested 12 SSF governance and management measures in 11 pilot Marine Protected Areas from 6 Mediterranean countries.
