In the framework of the cooperation with the Pelagos Permanent Secretariat, the Mediterranean Biodiversity Protection Community (MBPC) is organizing a half-day online technical workshop “Mediterranean Biodiversity Protection Community (MBPC) in action: supporting cetacean conservation in the Pelagos Sanctuary”, on November 18th, 2022, from 9.00 to 13.00 CEST.
This event will showcase some interesting results and tools available from the legacy of the MBPC projects that can assist the Pelagos Agreement and be proposed to its authorities to meet their management objectives in the next years. It will also help to propose implementable conservation measures to the Parties to the Agreement and plan further cooperation activities, particularly looking into transferable measures that could be applied at the transnational level to improve the conservation of marine mammals and associated biodiversity in the region.
Plan Bleu, as partner of the MBPC and of Blue Growth Community, will be represented by Céline Dubreuil, Director of Programmes, to present good practices and concrete measures to mitigate the environmental impact of cruises and recreational boating in the Mediterranean. These solutions are taken from the latest publication, “Guidelines for the sustainability of cruising and recreational boating in the Mediterranean region”, produced by Plan Bleu in partnership with three Interreg Med communities: MBPC, Blue Growth Community and Sustainable Tourism Community.
The technical workshop will be held in English.
Please, note that the technical workshop will take place online on November 18, 2022 from 9.00 to 13.00 CEST.
