Plan Bleu is organizing a restitution workshop dedicated to sustainable desalination in the Mediterranean.
The workshop will be held online on September 3, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m, in french and english. (Paris time). This event follows up on the call for scientific papers launched at the end of 2024, which aimed to gather academic and technical contributions on the challenges and opportunities related to desalination in the region.
The objective of the workshop is to present the results of the selected papers, encourage exchanges between researchers, water experts, and institutional stakeholders, and lay the groundwork for a structured dialogue around sustainable desalination approaches and integrated water management. The event will also serve as an opportunity to introduce a forthcoming collective edited volume, to be published at the end of the year, compiling the main contributions received.
The workshop program will focus on four main themes :
- Global and environmental issues related to desalination
- Economic models and sustainable development
- Governance and regulatory tools
- Integrated approaches that consider social and territorial dimensions
The event is open to anyone interested in sustainable water resource management in the Mediterranean — including professionals, researchers, institutional representatives, and students.
