Participatory workshop on coastal management in Bouches-du-Rhône and Al Hoceima Bay

In the framework of the PEGASO project, Plan Bleu, Ifremer, Tour du Valat, Rhône Mediterranean and Corsica Water Agency in collaboration with the University Mohammed V-Rabat Agdal, organised a participatory workshop to share experiences and debate of the work done so far in Bouches-du-Rhône (France) and Al Hoceima Bay (Morocco) pilot cases.

This workshop was held in Marseilles, on 11th February 2013 and benefited of the active participation from a group of local coastal managers and stakeholders working in Bouches-du-Rhône.

The tools developed within the PEGASO project and their implementation in the “collaborative application sites” (CASES) were presented: indicators, environmental and territorial diagnosis, land and environmental accounting (LEAC), participatory and local scenarios.

Interactions with local stakeholders allowed a better understanding of management tools they use every day, raising prospects towards future implementation at local level of the “PEGASO integrated toolbox”.

This workshop allowed also highlighting the progress of the studies carried out in the CASES, as well as several points for improvement in the coming months. A 2nd participatory workshop will be organised by the end of 2013 to present and debate the final results of the case studies.
