MedECC scoping workshop "Towards an improved scientific assessment of climate change and its impacts in the Mediterranean Basin"

Plan Bleu and Labex OT-Med co-organized the MedECC scoping workshop "Towards an improved scientific assessment of climate change and its impacts in the Mediterranean Basin", that took place in Aix-en-Provence, France, on October 10-12, 2016. The goal was to produce a detailed outline of the first MedECC report on climate and environmental change issues of importance for policymakers in the Mediterranean region.

Regional workshop on ecosystem services provided by Mediterranean wetlands

Sophia Antipolis (France), 19 September 2016: This workshop aimed to highlight the ecological importance of Mediterranean wetlands, the critical role they play in maintaining many natural cycles and supporting biodiversity, through the presentations of various case studies. Final results of the Med-ESCWET project were presented.

General Assembly 2016

Plan Bleu's General Assembly 2016 held in the premises of CIHEAM, in Paris, on 2nd June 2016. The activity report 2015 and the financial reports 2015 were presented to the Association’s members. The General Assembly also elected a new Bureau.

Workshop "Tourism and Sustainable Development"

Marseille, 23-24 May 2016: The French Development Agency (AFD - Agence Française de Développement) and Plan Bleu (UNEP/MAP) organized a workshop on the contribution of tourism to a sustainable and inclusive development, gathering partners of the two institutions, as well as decisions-makers, tourism operators, researchers and experts from several Mediterranean countries.

Marseille, 8 March 2016: The aim of the "Collaborative Lab" (focus group) is to assess, following a participatory approach, the feasibility of a Maritime Strategy for the Western Mediterranean sub-sea basin and a possible action plan. Among several areas of cooperation amongst northern and southern countries, we want to assess the potential visions and ideas to promote “Marine and maritime innovation and knowledge transfer across the Western Mediterranean”.
