Towards policy recommendations on sustainable tourism: shaping the results of the MED Community

The Third capitalisation event of the MED Sustainable Tourism Community was held on 27-28 March 2019 in Split (Croatia). The community continued the work on strategic topics of the Mediterranean tourism sector, started in Marseille in November 2018, in order to elaborate policy recommandations.

Organized by Plan Bleu, IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation, UICN French Committee, Conservatoire du Littoral, Tour du Valat, MedWET and Wetlands International, the workshop brought together in Marseille, on 22-24 January 2019, researchers, practitioners and policy makers of the Mediterranean region and European Union to discuss on the benefits and challenges related to Nature Based Solutions implementation.

Mid-term workshop and public hearing of the biodiversity protection community

The Mid-term workshop and public hearing of the Mediterranean Biodiversity Protection Community featured by the PANACeA project took place in Brussels, 4th and 5th December 2018. The aim was to transfer the lessons learnt by the Community of Interreg Med Biodiversity Protection projects and protected areas to a wider audience, in particular EU, Mediterranean and national policy makers, public authorities, environmental organizations and territorial cooperation institutions.

The regional dimension of a sustainable and inclusive Blue Economy: the model of the Mediterranean


In the framework of the first global conference on Sustainable Blue Economy (Nairobi, Kenya, 26-28 November 2018), UN Environment/Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP), WWF Mediterranean Marine Initiative, Plan Bleu and the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) organize a joint side-event entitled "The regional dimension of a Sustainable and Inclusive Blue Economy: the model of the Mediterranean: ".

Side event on Ecosystem based Management in the Mediterranean - CBD COP 14


A side event was co-organized by the Union for the Mediterranean and the MED Biodiversity Protection Community, at the fourteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD CBD 14) which was held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt from 17 to 29 November 2018.

Mid-term Conference of InnoBlueGrowth Project on blue economy

Organized by the partners of the InnoBlueGrowth project (including Plan Bleu), the mid-term conference "Blue Economy: The Blue Way of Life" which took place on November 22nd and 23rd 2018 in Barcelona, brought together about fifty experts and actors of Blue Growth in the Mediterranean, to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the blue economy, innovation and sustainability models of governance and regional cooperation.

Second capitalisation event of the MED Sustainable Tourism Community

The second capitalisation event of the MED Sustainable Tourism Community took place on 20-21 November 2018 in Marseille (France). Organized by Plan Bleu, this workshop gathered more than 60 participants to disseminate and capitalise about the results of their results, paving the way for the elaboration of political recommendations on coastal and maritime Mediterranean sustainable tourism.

Assemblée générale 2018


L'Assemblée générale 2018 du Plan Bleu se tiendra dans les locaux du CIHEAM à Paris, le 9 octobre 2018. Elle permettra de présenter aux membres de l’association les activités conduites en 2017, les comptes 2017, ainsi que le programme de travail 2018-2019.

International technical workshop "Data, trends, impacts and benefits associated with the creation of an emission control area by vessels in the Mediterranean"

Co-organized by the Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition and Plan Bleu on September 6th and 7th, 2018, in Marseille, this workshop presented the methodology and the results of the study carried out by France on the possibility of setting up an ECA zone ("Emissions Control Areas") in the Mediterranean.

Conference "Environment and development in the Mediterranean yesderday, today and tomorrow" on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Plan Bleu


More than 130 participants have gathered in Paris, on 5th June 2018, on the occasion of Plan Bleu’s 40 years anniversary, during the international conference, organized jointly with the Association Serge Antoine. Experts, decision-makers, representatives of national, European and Mediterranean institutions, and members of the civil society discussed the Mediterranean issues and possible futures.
