Mediterranean of the Future - Act II - Priority to Youth and Innovation


Nearly a year after the first act, "a common commitment to climate agreements", the Act II of Mediterranean of the Future - Priority to Youth and Innovation was held on 13 November 2018 in the Mediterranean Villa, in Marseille.

Organized by the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region around the theme "How to work together to create a favorable environment for youth and innovation in the Mediterranean?", the event brought together more than 700 participants (representatives of Mediterranean governments, regional and local authorities, experts from local and international organizations, young entrepreneurs, representatives of universities), with a common goal: to draw the Mediterranean of tomorrow.

The day was organized around three round tables and five workshops:

Round tables:

  • The Mediterranean, a destiny shaped by its youth
  • Youth and innovation: an indispensable alliance to build the Mediterranean of the future
  • Exchanges with the youth of the Mediterranean


  • Workshop 1 - Innovation and employability: training youth to think differently about solutions for the future
  • Workshop 2 - Youth and entrepreneurship: developing ecosystems boosting innovation and the impact of entrepreneurs
  • Workshop 3 - Youth: driving change in the Mediterranean
  • Workshop 4 - Young  people, builders of the Mediterranean city of the future
  • Workshop 5 - Think and build together a desirable future in the Mediterranean

The closing speech was given by Jean-Yves le Drian, French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, who confirmed the holding of the "Summit of the two shores" in Marseille in June 2019, as announced this summer by the President Emmanuel Macron, in order to "refound a more inclusive Mediterranean policy".
