{"id":7688,"date":"2015-07-09T12:22:17","date_gmt":"2015-07-09T10:22:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/planbleu.org\/event\/xiv-world-forestry-congress\/"},"modified":"2020-06-02T20:41:34","modified_gmt":"2020-06-02T18:41:34","slug":"xiv-world-forestry-congress","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/planbleu.org\/en\/event\/xiv-world-forestry-congress\/","title":{"rendered":"XIV World Forestry Congress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Durban (South Africa), 7-11 September 2015: In the framework of the XIV World Forestry Congress, Plan Bleu organized the International Forests &amp; Water Dialogue, a two-day special event that saw the finalization and launch of the Five-year Forests and Water Action Plan.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 214px; height: 100px; float: right; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;\" src=\"http:\/\/planbleu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Logo_WFCXIV_fr-tagline2.png\" alt=\"\" \/>Plan Bleu participated in the <a href=\"http:\/\/webapps.daff.gov.za\/wfc2015\/Fran%C3%A7ais\/Page%20d'accueil.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>XIV World Forestry Congress<\/strong><\/a> (WFS) in Durban from the 7 to the 11 September 2015 under the theme \u201c <strong>Forest and People: Investing in a Sustainable Future<\/strong>\u201d. This event aimed at bringing together the global forestry community to review and analyze the key issues,<\/p>\n<p>through the main <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fao.org\/about\/meetings\/world-forestry-congress\/programme\/thematic-focus\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">6 thematic focus<\/a><\/strong>, in order to share ways of addressing them and facilitate their mainstreaming in global agendas on sustainable development as well as building new partnerships.<\/p>\n<p>In this context, Plan Bleu participated in the following events:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/planbleu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DSC02904.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 200px; height: 150px; float: right; margin-left: 5px; margin-right: 5px;\" src=\"http:\/\/planbleu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DSC02904.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a>The\u00a0<strong>Stand \u201cMediterranean Forest<\/strong>\u201d took place for \u00a0the first time within the World Forestry Congress and was\u00a0 organized by the International Association for Mediterranean Forests (AIFM). \u00a0Plan Bleu\u2019s mission\u00a0 was to communicate the Mediterranean forests\u2019 main challenges and issues. The exchange of ideas\u00a0, information and experiences in terms of different actions and projects -realized to resolve the many problems faced by the Mediterranean forest ecosystems- is a major key toward their sustainable development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The International Forests &amp; Water Dialogue \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fao.org\/about\/meetings\/world-forestry-congress\/programme\/special-events\/water\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>From research to action: Integrating forest, tree and water interactions into policy, science, economics and forest practices<\/strong><\/a>\u201d took\u00a0 place\u00a0 from the 8th of September to the 9th. This two-day special event was co-organized by Plan Bleu and saw the \u00a0finalization and \u00a0launch of the\u00a0<strong>Five-year Forests and Water Action Plan<\/strong>, drafted by an expert group and partner organizations such as\u00a0the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fao.org\/home\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FAO<\/a> \u00a0and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iufro.org\/discover\/organization\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IUFRO<\/a> and \u00a0called for action\u00a0 in the areas of science, policy, economics and practices for forests and water.<\/li>\n<li>The side event \u201c\u00a0<strong>Rising to the challenge: Strengthening financing for sustainable forest management<\/strong>\u00a0&#8220;was held on September 10th, 2015 and was jointly organized by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fao.org\/home\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FAO<\/a>, FAST, and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.giz.de\/en\/html\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">GIZ<\/a>\u00a0 . The objective of this session was \u00a0to provide an overview of different ways and means of mobilizing additional financial resources for Sustainable Forest Management. Drawing on real world examples and the recent work of partner organizations on forest financing, the panel presentations focused on identifying new financial resources as well as developing new tools to catalyzing private investments. Plan bleu presented the \u00a0FFEM project\u201d\u00a0<strong>Optimizing the production of goods and services\u00a0 by Mediterranean forest ecosystems in the context of global changes<\/strong>\u00a0&#8220;, in particular, the main results of its second component \u201cEconomic and social valuation of goods and services provided by Mediterranean forest ecosystems\u201d.
