While climate change is becoming more and more of a concrete reality, impacting people and places throughout the Mediterranean region, a broad range of Nature-based Solutions are available to enhance society’s resilience in this new, dynamic and highly challenging context. This publication is published in the framework of the Workshop « Implementation of Nature Based Solutions to tackle climate change » hosted by the City of Marseille from the 22nd to the 24th of January 2019, and organized by Plan Bleu, IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation, IUCN French Committee, Conservatoire du Littoral, Tour du Valat, MedWet and Wetlands International. It was funded by the campaign OffYourmap, as well as by AFD and UN Environment/MAP.

Mediterranean wetlands: an economic valuation of their services to climate change adaptation and regulation

Half of all Mediterranean wetlands disappeared over the 20th century. They have declined to now only 18 million hectares. However, wetlands are home to some of the richest yet most threatened ecosystems on the planet. Wetlands provide many ecosystem services that promote human wellbeing.

Ce rapport a pour objectif d’établir un premier inventaire des dispositifs législatifs et réglementaires nationaux relatifs aux Partenariats Publics Privés (PPP) et susceptibles d’être applicables aux Aires Protégées (AP), de recenser des pratiques réussies de recours aux PPP pour la gestion d’une AP, et de produire une première analyse sur leur potentiel de développement dans les pays du Sud et de l’Est de la Méditerranée.
