Launch of MED 2050 - a new foresight initiative on future visions of the Environment and Development in the Mediterranean

Plan Bleu is launching MED 2050 - a new foresight initiative on future visions of the Environment and Development in the Mediterranean for 2050.

In 2017, a mandate was given to Plan Bleu by the parties to the Barcelona Convention to launch a new foresight study on the environment and development in the Mediterranean by 2050. MED 2050 is an ambitious prospective exercise designed as an original science-policy interface, intended to mobilize policy makers and stakeholders from the South and North across geographical and institutional boundaries. The work will be carried out in the next four years. They will build on existing and ongoing sector analyzes by helping to put them into perspective in an integrated approach, as well as dialogues, partnerships and shared visions of preferable or desirable futures in this region. The results will inform the process of revising and implementing the Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development (MSSD).

While we are getting ready to deploy the initiative’s first actions in fall 2018, we would already like to gather a foresight network of people interested in participating in MED 2050.
